Lake Batur and Volcano
Batur, the feminine counterpart to the masculine Agung. Both are highly
revered as sacred in Bali and are still active. |
|
Lake Batur is the
source of the waterfall found on our North Bali photo page; Agung is
behind the clouds middle right. Flocks of white cranes grace the sky. |
|
East Bali has the
most beautiful rice paddies on the island. This is old Bali, unchanged
in most ways. Each retreat we visit the High Priests of Sideman and
receive their cleansing blessing with Holy water. |
| |
|
These High Priests
are 89 years old, are married and serve the community's spiritual needs
living on modest donations tucked into offerings of flowers, rice, sweets,
coffee and sugar, and fruit. |
These Holy people are very dear to retreat facilitator Laila Ghattas; Their daughter Dayu is learning the traditions: A rare honour is bestowed on Laila when she is allowed to give Reiki to the High Priest. |
