BALI BLISS WELLNESS JOURNEY- 2008 RETREAT REVIEW

Our first Bali Bliss Wellness Journey in February was simply gorgeous. But don't just take our word for it...

Has Bali culture, people and beauty had any impact on you?

"Absolutely--- I can see, even more sharply, the beauty in the 'everyday' things--- preparing a meal, enjoying a gorgeous flower, learning bits and pieces of a new language, collecting seashells and stones.............Allowing for less rush in my life and more space and quiet.
Breathing, consciously and deeply, feels really great. I think I've been holding my breath for 36 years!
I also loved the focus on reverence and gratitude in Balinese culture......there are literally 'little altars' everywhere..just like the book title."

"Really getting away from it all in a beautiful place like Bali, surrounded by a very mindful, intentional, and peaceful culture inspired me to find new abilities to live a more mindful life back at home."

"Bali is a place worth exploring! There is so much to do and see I'd recommend taking some extra time before the retreat to get accustomed to the new culture and also spend some time after the retreat reflecting on the personal growth experiences in a beautiful setting."

"The people, the culture, the beauty, the spirituality...I could go on and on there are so many reasons to return to Bali.
"

What did you like best about Gaia Oasis as a retreat location?

"The stunningly beautiful and peaceful ocean-side location inspired personal growth when combined with Laila's insightful art sessions. The atmosphere was relaxed, and conducive to meeting other like-minded guests. The Gaia environment helped to further my personal growth, giving me a peaceful, safe place to reflect on new personal insights. The daily yoga and meditation at Gaia deepened my spiritual growth."

"Seriously, the spa staff goes above and beyond to please the clients and will adjust any aspect to suit individual tastes. The Gaia Oasis 2 hour treatment was like heaven on a massage table.....esp. the coconut avocado exfoliation. Sighhhh..."

"The quality of the food was superb, fresh and delicious! I liked the buffet style, it gave me the flexibility to eat when I wanted and how much I wanted. The food was a blend of Indonesian style and Western style so I could try some new dishes, yet I also had some familiar foods to choose from if I wasn't feeling adventurous."

What value did you get from Personal Insight sessions?

"The group art activities are casual and fun and a great opportunity to bond with the other participants. Sharing experiences through art shed new light on the issues I was working through."

"Surprisingly, I felt that the group therapy contained more 'aha moments', but the personal therapy was valuable in allowing some of my pent-up emotions to come up, ones I didn't even conciously know I had."

"I would recommend the reiki to anyone who is curious and feels somehow generally 'stuck' but unable to name the cause. Laila is excellent."

What were the highlights of your retreat experience?

"Experiencing a completely new culture--- a true adventure
Seeing Ubud after reading about it in Eat Pray Love
Being completely removed from my day to day existence"
