Georgian Bay is one of the
most beautiful places in the world, and Ontario's crowning jewel. On
this journey we will take full advantage of all the gifts this uniquely
Canadian landscape offers. The intention of these retreats is to offer
enjoyable opportunities to reconnect some of the long forgotten parts
that make up the whole of you.
Black Feather, the renowned kayak adventure company, hosts these Women's
retreats, providing expert guides and all gear, kayaks and safety equipment
.On this personal growth kayak trip paddling instruction is given before
setting out. We then pack up the kayaks and paddle to our base camp
where we set up our tents and kitchen.
The days are designed to make time for kayaking and swimming in the
sheltered waters of the Georgian Bay archipelago, play with found objects
and art materials, and take a glimpse
at the insights that emerge. We'll enjoy a gentle kayak paddle and have
introductory opportunities for creative expression on a nice flat Canadian
Shield rock as weather allows. Delicious hearty meals complement the
gentle rhythm of the retreat.
The primary focus of the physical journey of kayaking is complemented
with the introduction to an inner journey of creative self-expression.
Gestalt therapist and group facilitator, Laila
Ghattas, uses Gestalt
therapy principles to explore the expressive art work. This combination
of experiences support favourable opportunity for self-discovery. As
each day passes you will become more familiar with the meditative quality
of kayaking, more keenly aware of your body and more alert to the beauty
of your surroundings. You will leave these waters with a deeper understanding
of who you are as you engage your new awareness. Pure and simple. And
you will have experienced the enriching company of like-minded souls!

"Georgian Bay is a
healing place. A place to connect with nature, with spirit and with self.
This retreat helped me become more aware of my self, enabled me to confront
old issues and nourished my soul. And it's a hell of a lot of fun."
